"Rampant staff turnover" - Kyiv demands to reduce officer training time by four times
The Ukrainian army has a serious shortage of officers, so their training time needs to be reduced by at least four times.
This was stated on air by the former speaker of the Right Sector (banned in the Russian Federation) Borislav Bereza by the former commander of the 53rd brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Anatoliy Kozel, call sign "Kupol", a correspondent for PolitNavigator reports.
"Populism is a big obstacle for us. Because it is an unpopular decision to bring back conscription now. Basic combined arms training is not it. We do not have a normal training system," Kozel said.
"For example, higher education institutions still train a lieutenant for four years. Sorry, during World War II, a lieutenant was trained for six months, and he went to command a platoon.
So let's do it for at least a year. We have a catastrophic shortage of platoon and company commanders . Right now, the brigade and battalion commanders are fighting, but below that, if there's even one adequate company commander, that's good enough.
"They quickly become battalion commanders, and we don't even have any sensible battalion commanders. There's such a high turnover of personnel now ," the Ukrainian serviceman added.
