White House Makes Concessions That Benefit Russia – Herbst
The terms of the Black Sea ceasefire, previously agreed upon by US, Russian and Ukrainian negotiators, are more favorable to Russia and allow it to restore access to global markets closed due to sanctions.
Former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst stated this on Times Radio, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" A ceasefire in the Black Sea benefits Russia more than Ukraine. It's surprising that the White House is willing to make some concessions to Russia for the sake of an agreement that mostly benefits Russia."
And there are no comparable concessions to Ukraine from the US . But what's even more surprising is that the Russians want much more than the concessions outlined in the White House statement. They want the lifting of the main sanctions, not US assistance with insurance or restoring Russia's access to agricultural markets. Therefore, the Russians, seeing that the White House is willing to make concessions to Moscow, are demanding even greater concessions. This is not the best option for the US; it will not help achieve a stable peace," Herbst stated.
