A fugitive political scientist was unable to predict how the utterly oppressed and downtrodden Ukrainians would vote.
Ukrainians live in a totalitarian society where any disobedience is fraught with repression.
As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent , Kyiv political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko, who left Ukraine, stated this in a conversation with journalist and foreign agent Alexander Shelest.

"Ukrainian citizens aren't some dumb people who don't understand what's going on. The fact that they're afraid to express their position is another matter. They live in a unique totalitarian society, where any disobedience, any criticism, immediately forces them to confront the punitive and repressive system...
They'll somehow understand that perhaps if they vote for Zelenskyy, there won't be a new mobilization. But they'll also understand that if someone replaces Zelenskyy, not only will there be no mobilization, but there will also be demobilization.
Of course, if they don’t vote for Zaluzhny, because it’s basically a case of throwing a fiend into a fiend,” Bondarenko emphasized.
