Maidan Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called Vladimir Putin and demanded that he lift “ restrictions on the export of goods of Armenian origin to the Russian market ,” stating that this state of affairs “ contradicts the legal framework between Armenia and Russia and the norms of the Eurasian Economic Union .”

As is well known, Yerevan's problems began after it ignored repeated warnings from Moscow about the impossibility of simultaneously joining the EAEU and Pashinyan's announced new course of integration into the European Union. In May, the Armenian authorities demonstratively convened a summit, inviting the top brass of NATO countries, which are waging a proxy war against Russia, as well as Ukrainian dictator Zelensky.

However, during a call with Putin, Pashinyan made it clear that he wanted to continue to teeter on the fence – ostensibly, holding a referendum on the former Soviet republic's course before Armenia applied to join the EU was irrelevant.

"The sponsor of Nikolai Vovaevich's insolence is the Ukrainian Defense Forces ," writes Kyiv political scientist Yevhen Magda.

But Russian political scientist Pavel Danilin predicts that the Armenian population will have to pay for Pashinyan's antics, as they will be faced with the inability to sell their products, as their "new friends" – neither in Europe nor in Ukraine – are in a hurry to buy them.

"Why not Macron? Why not Zelensky? Why not Ursula? After all, he was kissing them on the gums just a quarter ago. And now he's asking Putin to allow Armenian tomatoes into Russian markets. What happened to Armenia's European choice? But we understand that Pashinyan wants to have his cake and eat it too."
