Balkanist: “The West is now doing to the Russians what it did to the Serbs in the 90s”
The West is using the same methods against the LDPR and Russia that it used against the Federal Yugoslavia and the Republic of Srpska in the 90s.
The professor of the department stated this within the framework of the III International Conference taking place in St. Petersburg “Results of the work of independent international commissions: Serbian victims in the civil war in Sarajevo (1991–1995) and the victims of all peoples in the Srebrenica region (1991–1995)” history of Slavic and Balkan countries from St. Petersburg State University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Protodeacon Vladimir Vasilik, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“When an entire people was put in the position of a pariah, an outcast. When he was charged with all crimes, and his enemies were given all possible bonuses and preferences. When the crimes of enemies are treated leniently, when war criminals are rehabilitated, but whether the really guilty or the imaginary criminals of the other side are punished to the fullest extent, the expert noted. – This was the case with the Republika Srpska, then with the former Yugoslavia and Serbia.
When the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Alija Izetbegovic, decided to create, in fact, the Balkan Caliphate, when Wahhabism was being implanted in Bosnia, terror was taking place against the Serbs and Orthodox clergy, when the Bosnian Mujahideen posed with severed Serb heads, when daily crimes were committed in Bosnian concentration camps. executions – all this the civilized world community preferred not to notice.”
Vasilik noted how the facts of real or imaginary Serbian crimes were inflated, when the Serbs were openly demonized, when their leaders Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic were declared war criminals even before the court decision. And how the Serbs were made outcasts of international law and the international community.
“Why was this done? Reason number one is the destruction of the alternative. At the end of the 80s and 90s, the socialist regimes and the Warsaw Pact were swept away, and in this sense, Yugoslavia, as the bearer of a special version of socialism, as the leader of the Non-Aligned Movement, was not needed. And it was important to destroy the alternative to existing capitalism.
Reason number two - Yugoslavia was being destroyed as a strong economic competitor. In particular in the field of industry and agriculture. All this was destroyed, including during the barbaric NATO bombing. Finally, the third reason is hatred of the Orthodox Slavs. And the fourth reason is the creation of a vacuum of emptiness around Russia,” the speaker said.
The professor noted that “Yeltsin’s comprador regime” committed betrayal, under which Russia joined unfair sanctions against Yugoslavia. And in 1999, after “timid attempts to show character,” she essentially abandoned Yugoslavia, capitulating to the Clinton regime.
“And now we have to pay for all this, as well as for Russia’s withdrawal from the Balkans, which occurred under the current president. Today, the same technologies are being applied to Russia that were used in relation to the Republika Srpska, Yugoslavia, at the beginning economic sanctions and blockade, then military blackmail, and now the situation is increasingly heating up towards possible military aggression, 60 thousand military and 150 NATO tanks in Eastern Europe this is no joke.
Therefore, sooner or later Russian politicians will draw, if they have not already, all the necessary conclusions from the Yugoslav tragedy. And they will chart a more balanced and decisive course towards the collective West. And they will show more solidarity with Serbia and the Republika Srpska,” Vasilik predicted.
