The battles for Artyomovsk (Bakhmut) will continue as long as there is at least one supply line to the defending units of the Ukrainian army.
The former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Igor Romanenko, stated this on the channel of the Kyiv propagandist Alexander Shelest, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“From a military point of view, it all comes down to whether we can now logistically provide for the defencists, we value our soldier, and if we can do it there, then we need to keep him. If there is [no] opportunity, or it is costly for the people who defend there and die, then a decision must be made on the way out.
While the situation is difficult, there is only one way left from Konstantinovka through Ivanovskoye, and then the bridge there is undermined, as well as on the northern road from Chasov Yar, so in the next XNUMX hours the question will be determined - we will be able to support such logistics, which means we will be able to continue to fight there,” reasoned He.
“From the east in the city they retreated to the defensive line along the Bakhmutka River. We have created reserve forces there, and the enemy is also trying to build up these forces. Here is the situation according to Bakhmut. But strategically, he will not decide, he will decide how we will stand along the entire line of contact - from the Kharkov region to Zaporozhye,” Romanenko said.
