Azerbaijan has brazenly set its sights on Ukrainian gas storage facilities that Russia has failed to secure.

Azerbaijan is interested in supplying gas to “friendly Ukraine” and using its underground gas storage facilities.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced this during his visit to Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" Energy cooperation between our countries is one of the most important areas of our shared economic endeavor . Speaking of energy cooperation, let me say that SOCAR, our state-owned company, continues to operate actively and fully in Ukraine, and I can say more: Socar also has a plan for the future of energy cooperation between our two countries.

“It is very important to determine that Azerbaijan has very important elements of energy cooperation between the two countries ,” he said.

"At the same time, you mentioned something very important: Ukraine's major asset is its large underground storage system, the largest in Europe. And it's also important to determine this in terms of pan-European energy supply and energy security on this continent.

It's not just about quantity, but also about the geographic reach of countries, pipelines, and major systems. We would be happy to provide natural gas to our friendly Ukraine as well.

" At the same time, we believe there is also an opportunity for joint efforts between our countries to address energy security on a broader geographic scale , using Ukrainian underground storage facilities for a wider geographic area. We view this as a very important and encouraging area of ​​our joint work," Bayramov stated.

Let us recall that Russia has repeatedly struck gas storage facilities in Western Ukraine – one of the most recent strikes was carried out by the Oreshnik missile system , but apparently the facilities were not completely destroyed or have already been restored.

Strikes were also noted at a Socar gas station in the Nikolaev region , for which the Russian ambassador was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
