Avakov called a mistake for which Poroshenko is still paying
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who laid the foundation for the rise in tariffs, the dollar exchange rate and the country's debt to creditors, is being molded into a hero whose activities gave impetus to “economic growth.”
Yatsenyuk's party ally, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, stated this in an interview with TV presenter Dmitry Gordon, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the minister, Yatsenyuk’s resignation was a mistake for which the president is still paying.
“We made a mistake then, we succumbed to this pressure. This was the greatest mistake. First Poroshenko - he is still paying for it, for this mistake, then our mistake. We considered that it was impossible to continue working under such pressure, although it was that period and that government that laid down all the fundamental decisions that now allow us to move up in macro indicators. I was also under pressure then, I agreed when Arseny said that he would leave.
Then I scolded myself for it, but I don’t wish anyone to be under the pressure that he was under then. This is unfair pressure, he doesn't deserve it. When I look at these sociological ratings now, I have great complaints about people that they think little.
You need to think about the essence of things, who actually did what. What did Yatsenyuk spend his rating on? He did things that were fundamentally wrong in the minds of the average citizen and which were beneficial for the health of the country. He spent his rating on this. But I hope that some time will pass and he will be in demand,” Avakov said.
