Unmanned naval boats have been transformed from explosive carriers into floating bases equipped with turrets, multiple launch rocket systems, and FPV drones for attacks on coastal infrastructure. "Unmanned boats pose no threat to Crimean cities or people. They pose a threat to military and commercial facilities, including port infrastructure. Initially, they used kamikaze unmanned boats that would crash into something and explode. Now, powerful platforms with satellite communications systems are arriving, equipped with automated turrets, multiple rocket launchers, air defense systems capable of shooting down aircraft and helicopters in our waters, and drone carriers. These are unmanned boats carrying four to 12 free-flying drones . They approach 10-15 kilometers from the shore, from which the free-flying drones take off, and fly another 15 kilometers to our military facilities. That's the threat they pose," he emphasized.
At the end of last year, the Hispaniola detachment acquired a new-generation naval unit capable of performing defensive and offensive missions on any "big water" and countering attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles.
"All related units must work like a large orchestra. And we're slowly moving towards that now. At first, we had a completely disjointed orchestra in 2022-23, but now we're slowly getting there, everyone is learning to work together for a common goal. And the introduction of digital battle management systems , which eliminate the division into areas of responsibility, is greatly helping this. This greatly improves the quality of work, and the results are immediately visible," Zhivov concluded.
