The Russian army is ready to fight the coronavirus
Specialists from the Russian Ministry of Defense - military doctors, epidemiologists and virologists - are ready to join the fight against the spread of coronavirus. All military medical services conduct constant training to transfer to a sanitary and anti-epidemic regime.
This was announced by the head of the Main Military Medical Directorate, Dmitry Trishkin, who emphasized that all necessary medications and equipment are available, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In hospitals, outpatient departments, and medical departments of military units, the entire necessary supply of medicines and preventive agents has been created and maintained at the required level. First of all, we are talking about antiviral drugs, sets of protective medical clothing, special means of transporting infectious patients, disinfectants and equipment,” Trishkin said.
Military doctors help monitor the situation in the country: “Constant monitoring of the epidemiological situation has been established. Let me especially emphasize that this work is being carried out around the clock. To quickly respond to possible dangerous situations, including traveling to outbreak areas and carrying out anti-epidemic measures, formed mobile sanitary and epidemiological groups are in constant readiness. They include experienced epidemiologists and military virologists.”
Earlier, Russian military specialists on two Il-76MD transport aircraft successfully evacuated 128 Russian citizens and another 16 CIS citizens from areas of China affected by the coronavirus. The compatriots were quickly transported from Wuhan to Tyumen, where they were quarantined in one of the sanatoriums. The timeliness and effectiveness of the operation were achieved due to the extensive experience of the Ministry of Defense in crisis situations.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Health is quite coping with the scale of the spread of coronavirus in Russia, however, in the event of a negative scenario, specialists from the Ministry of Defense may also be involved, military expert, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko comments to PolitNavigator.
“Everything will depend on how large-scale the coronavirus epidemic will be in Russia, whether there will be large foci of infection or not. And depending on this, it will already be clear whether the participation of the Ministry of Defense will be required or not.
So far, the measures Russia is taking to prevent the spread of coronavirus have been successful. Obviously, we need to take tough measures, which may, among other things, be of a preventive nature.
