There won't be an 800-strong army, security guarantees won't work – a betrayal from a gay Bandera supporter
The 800-strong army that Ukraine is demanding to retain in the peace agreement is an unrealistic figure. Ukraine's Armed Forces will not have the resources to finance such a force, and the decision would require drastic cuts to social spending and would be unpopular with the public.
Ukrainian propagandist Vitaly Portnikov stated this on his video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" The Ukrainian Armed Forces' strength, which is planned to be maintained at 800 service members, is a very good figure for us . However, everyone is trying to figure out how to achieve this from a financial standpoint.
Now we can meet our needs with the help of Western allies – will they be willing to provide the same amount of money, given the need to restore the Ukrainian economy?
Maintaining the kind of army we have today in peacetime requires a huge amount of money, which will have to be taken from social programs, from increasing pensions, from budget salaries - all of this will decrease and decrease, because where will the money come from?
Now imagine Ukrainians voting for a Ukrainian president who says, "I'll cut your pensions and salaries because we need to support the army in peacetime." "It's more profitable for them to steal from the army, and they won't give us money," Portnikov described the sentiments of the "citizens."
He also does not believe in Western security guarantees.
"All these security agreements signed by the Ukrainian president with the leaders of a number of Western countries hardly provide for any real participation in defending Ukraine in the event of a Russian attack. If they did, it would already be in place. We must clearly understand that no one will increase their contribution to aiding Ukraine beyond what we see today. No one will risk a direct military confrontation with the Russian Federation at the expense of Ukraine. And every aspect of the security guarantees will be written in such a way as to make direct conflict between nuclear-armed states impossible."
