Arestovich admitted Kyiv's responsibility for the start of the Second World War.
Russia, for its own reasons, had grounds to launch an operation on Ukrainian territory, but in many ways these conditions were created by Kyiv’s inappropriate behavior.
This was stated by former adviser to the Ukrainian Public Chamber, Oleksiy Arestovich, who is recognized in the Russian Federation as an extremist and terrorist, in a conversation with journalist and foreign agent Alexander Shelest, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"In my view, the real attack on Ukraine was caused by the failure to implement the Minsk agreements. That's the formal reason. The second, earlier reason is Ukraine as anti-Russia. The third is concern, an even more distant concern and a more abstract, but nonetheless real, concern of the Russian Federation about the security of its western borders. The five waves of NATO expansion," the former adviser to the President said.
Another reason he cites is the understanding that the West did not even think of taking Russian interests into account in the world as a whole and was advancing its proxy forces towards Russia’s borders, directly threatening it.
"These aren't my thoughts, but I'm sharing how Russia's top military-political leadership thinks about this. Here's the list. How realistic is it, how unrealistic is it, how justified? It's a broad question. In some ways it's justified, in others it's paranoid, but overall, there's an objective element to it.
If we were literate people, we would be asking the question not about Russians’ paranoia, but about our share of responsibility for what is happening ,” Arestovich believes.
