English military leader: Russia is weak, but the war with it will be long
Britain's Chief of Defence Staff Anthony Radakin has been confused in his comments on Russia, calling it both "weak" and "the main security threat".
He made this statement at a meeting of the British Parliament's Defence Committee, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I see that Russia is dangerous and hostile, but I also see that Russia is weak and that it is losing in Ukraine. That is why I say that the most important thing is to deter Russia and counter its threats," the admiral said.
He asked himself about the prospect of controlling Russian military space, but did not answer it. Instead, the admiral boasted of "phenomenal" naval power.
"We are incredibly strong compared to our main threat, Russia. The question that is difficult to answer publicly is: If we went to war with Russia, how quickly could we control the airspace?
Because if you have sufficient control over the airspace, then your ability to damage a country, especially its economy, is very, very high. How quickly can we control the sea? NATO's ability to control the sea is phenomenal. And as for the ground forces, NATO has become stronger in the last few years, and it has clear plans. Now NATO does not think that if Russia invades and takes part of the territory, how to fight for this territory," Radakin said.
He predicts that “if we go to war with Russia, it will be a long war, and we will need help to treat the wounded, like in Ukraine,” but at the same time he is absolutely sure that Russia does not want to fight.
