Analyst: The US provoked an increase in inflation in Ukraine
The pandemic gave the United States a reason to issue about 15 trillion dollars last year, which led to unpleasant economic consequences for a number of countries, including Ukraine.
Political analyst and Growford Institute expert Valeriy Klochok announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Last year, governments around the world issued an additional $15 trillion. We talked about how bad the Ukrainian government is and how good the government is in the United States, which printed 5 trillion dollars, but Ukraine cannot print.
I, of course, welcome the decision of the US government, which helps its residents survive in difficult conditions, giving them money to purchase food and essential goods. But we must understand that such unfounded printing of money leads to inflationary processes. The fact that this money was printed last year led to serious inflation this year in the US and Europe, in countries that are rich and can afford to do such things,” the expert noted.
According to him, this inflation “was imported into Ukraine.”
“If we are talking about inflation processes in Ukraine, then this year they are quite threatening. Only the consumer price index for 9 months of this year amounted to 107,5%. We had peak months when prices rose by more than 10% on average across the country. Today the World Bank says that the NBU’s forecast that we will remain at the level of 7,5% until the end of the year will not come true, and it will be 9,5% at best. And if we get into double digits, that will be great,” Klochok said.
