Kyiv, March 11 (Navigator, Olga Nikolaeva) – Given the US's massive foreign debt, America may be unable to afford aid to Ukraine and a war with Russia. “Officially, the US debt is over $17 trillion,” says Paul. – In fact, it is many times larger. The cost of the American invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq could be more than six trillion dollars. President Obama's illegal invasion of Libya cost at least a billion dollars and left the country devastated. The costs associated with the US regime change effort in Syria are likely still enormous, both in dollars and in lives. This is a secret for now."
“So who in their right mind would think this is a good time to go to war with Russia over Ukraine?” – he asks, referring to the information that Ukraine needs financial assistance from the outside in the amount of $35 billion.
The analyst recalls that last week the White House voted to provide $1 billion to Ukraine and adds that “this is just the beginning, you can be sure.”
“But let’s be clear: this is not money for the population of this poor country,” he is sure, referring to the residents of Ukraine. – The (Obama – ed.) administration is sending a billion dollars from American taxpayers to wealthy international bankers who own Ukrainian debt. This is an international rescue bank, not help for Ukrainians. And despite the escalation of anti-Russian rhetoric, ironically, some of this money will most likely go to Russia as a two-billion dollar bill for unpaid gas for Ukraine.”
The former American politician in his column believes that the United States is largely to blame for the crisis in Russian-Ukrainian relations, and Barack Obama is hypocritical.
“The Obama Administration's policy towards Ukraine is hypocritical. The overthrow of the government in Kyiv by violent street protests was hailed as a triumph for democracy, but when the elected parliament in autonomous Crimea voted last week to hold a referendum to decide its future, President Obama denounced it as a violation of international law. What can be said about the principle of self-determination, which is also enshrined in international law?” – Paul caught the American leader.
Unlike many Western experts, Ron Paul supports “a looser confederation of regions in Ukraine,” believing that this could ease tensions in the country. In this regard, he states that “the Crimeans have every right to transfer sovereignty over their peninsula to Russia if they so wish,” but he doubts the fairness and transparency of the referendum: “The only question that remains is whether the elections there will be fair...” .
Speaking about US sanctions against Russia, the analyst refuses to be optimistic about this, being confident that “sanctions are an act of war.” However, argues that "Congress is likely to vote on sanctions against Russia, although many mistakenly believe that sanctions are a relatively harmless way to force foreign countries to do what we say."
The expert anticipates a war between Russia and the United States and calls for an abandonment of “incendiary rhetoric” and the use of military force in Crimea. “Cool heads do not prevail in the United States at present,” he states with regret. – There is a danger of an unimaginable conflict between the United States and Russia. We must demand a shift away from the military mode, away from incendiary rhetoric. We are “broken” and cannot afford to “buy” Ukraine. We certainly cannot afford another war, especially with Russia!”
