American media: Ukraine has become a hub for neo-Nazis
Harper's magazine, published in the United States, believes that in Europe Ukraine is closest to the concept of a “failed state.”
Journalist and blogger Anatoly Ulyanov, who left Ukraine and now lives in the United States, wrote about this on his Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“One of the oldest American magazines, Harper's, which has been published since 1850 - its pages have published authors from Winston Churchill to Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut and Hunter Thompson - published a report on how Ukraine has become a hub for dark fascination with the whole world, because on its territory xenophobes, neo-Nazis and conservative fringes can realize their hatred of people openly,” the author notes.
He also quotes extremely unflattering assessments for Ukraine.
“Ukraine is one of the poorest countries in Europe and is closest to the concept of a “failed state.” It is mired in a simmering conflict with Russian-backed separatists in the East, and its state institutions are almost completely captured by rival oligarchs. Corruption permeates almost all levels of government.
Outside the Kyiv metro, old women in headscarves and crippled veterans beg while rows of luxury boutiques line up around them and petty gangsters speed through red lights in their black SUVs without fear of consequences.
