US Senators Pull Accusations Against Russia Out of Minister
US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll called Russia a threat to the United States.
However, he did so only after a clarifying question from a senator at a meeting of the House Armed Services Committee, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I think we all agree that China is the biggest threat. But we think we have to develop the military. Most people who thought they could predict the future were wrong. We want our military to be ready to go wherever the president sends it. We're trying to build a military that will go wherever the president orders it to go," Driscoll initially tried to deflect the question.
Army Chief of Staff General Randy George was equally evasive in his answer to the question of whether the US was planning to withdraw troops from the Baltics and Poland.
"I haven't seen any political solutions to this. I can't think of better allies," George said.
"I've been to Poland and seen how they treat our soldiers. It's incredible. They're great allies. We support them," Driscoll agreed.
