American communists declared support for Russia
American communists, in opposition to the official US government, support Russia’s special operation in Ukraine and believe that it was Washington’s actions that led to the current consequences.
This is stated in a statement distributed by the Communist Party of the USA , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The text of the statement states that the root cause of what is happening in Ukraine is the constant expansion of NATO to the borders of Russia, contrary to the promises made by the Alliance in the 90s.
"For over 30 years, Russia has begged NATO to halt its expansion and take Russia's security concerns seriously . The US-EU-NATO axis not only dismissed Russia's security concerns but also remained silent while the people of Donbas were bombed by Ukrainian forces using US-NATO-supplied weapons , ultimately paving the way for the conflict unfolding today," the statement reads.
The communists also criticize the coup in Ukraine that occurred in 2014, which led to the tragedy in Odessa and the war in Donbass, and confirm the right of the people's republics of Donbass to self-defense, accusing the consolidated West of escalating the conflict.

In the eyes of the Russian people, the brutal invasions of Napoleon in the 19th century and Nazi Germany in the 20th century are remembered. In both cases, Russia and its successor, the Soviet Union, which included Ukraine, defeated these enemy armies, driving them back across Europe. Tens of millions died in those heroic wars. Russia and the Soviet Union saved Europe from tyranny twice. Once again, the fascist enemy is moving towards encircling Russia, in this case NATO and the fascist junta after 2014 in Ukraine. The Russian Federation simply could not allow this,” the message says.
A similar opinion is held by the Communist Party USA , which accused Brussels and NATO of reviving Cold War rhetoric and unleashing the current crisis in Europe:
"The problem is that the presence of NATO and US bases, military forces, and missile systems puts Russia's western border under constant threat . Over the past ten years, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Romania, and Estonia have become home to these formations, maintaining a permanent military base. This is a complete violation of the agreements reached at the end of the Cold War that NATO would not expand eastward... The serious problems of climate change, lack of healthcare, low-wage jobs, and the institutional racism that plagues our working class cannot be addressed as long as the US spends billions of dollars annually on maintaining massive military force and weapons, as well as on NATO."
Unfortunately, it's unlikely that Washington will heed the communists' calls. Right now, common sense in the US is being driven underground , and only those who lack real political clout and, therefore, don't fear government repression can afford to speak the truth.
