"The agricultural sector contributes negatively to inflation. While our annual inflation rate for the country as a whole is 15,1 percent, for food products it's 19,8 percent—almost 20 percent . This directly correlates with the decline in purchasing power," the deputy complained.

He turned to the Minister of Agriculture Vitaly Koval for clarification. He denied it, saying that inflation is a global trend.

“The global trend is towards rising food prices throughout the world,” the official said.

He also specifically mentioned the rise in fish prices.

"Despite the fact that we are a large country that generates agricultural products, we are a major importer. In 2024, fish was imported to Ukraine for 1 billion 89 million, and exported for only 56 million. This means that we are net importers of fish and we need to strengthen this area," the minister said.

However, he assured the deputies that “there is no threat to Ukraine’s food security.”
