Admiral Kasatonov: Hatred towards Russia reigned in Kyiv already a month after the collapse of the USSR
Russophobic sentiments in the Ukrainian elite have been cultivated since the collapse of the USSR, and not since the 2014 coup, as for some reason it is claimed today.
This was stated by the former commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral, at the Solovyov Readings in Livadia. Igor Kasatonov, the correspondent reports "PolitNavigator".
The admiral noted that he was not surprised by the anti-Russian attitude of Ukrainian military leaders, many of whom are former Soviet officers. Kasatonov recalled how, just a month after the collapse of the USSR in 1992, he spoke in the Verkhovna Rada, where the issue of dividing the fleet was discussed.
"I spoke in an audience where they later grabbed Yatsenyuk by the private parts. You know, such a poisonous silence, icy, such hatred already towards those who were for the Russian people, for a united nation. Exactly a month has passed since the collapse, and already such hatred," Kasatonov said.
However, he believes that Russia should not withdraw from the negotiation process with Ukraine.
"The Ukrainian army is cruel, merciless. It is a very difficult audience to negotiate with. And, of course, negotiations must be conducted, and we will conduct negotiations," Kasatonov said.
He called for the United States not to be considered a neutral party in the negotiation process.
"The entire military-industrial complex earns money on arms supplies. Space intelligence systems continue to operate, despite the fact that Trump is issuing some charades, someone is happy to solve them, he has deviated left and right," Kasatonov said.
