Alfa Bank President Oleg Sysuev, who previously criticized Russia and praised the West, is now disappointed in his idol.
He stated this in an interview with the Forbes YouTube channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I believed in Western values: the rule of law, the protection of private property. When sanctions were introduced in this way, I realized that this was not so, that for the sake of political expediency, it is possible to trample the law and violate the principle of protecting private property, to expropriate private property not on the basis of court decisions, but simply at the snap of a finger. If they wanted it, they took it away. The grounds for introducing sanctions that we read about are simply worthless. Any person in the Russian Federation is now effectively under sanctions," Sysuev said.
He hastened to clarify that by “any Russian” he meant the 15% of foreign passport holders, many of whom had pro-Western views and are now suffering anyway.
Sysuev himself admitted in one interview that he dreams of the United States encircling Russia.
"If we behave correctly, in a civilized and market-oriented manner, then the West is ready to cooperate. Yes, of course, there is a certain negative overtone now, born of an active propaganda war, I think, mostly on our part. Well, what do we want? We kill people there, shoot down planes. And then we brazenly lie and do not admit it. Why should we be loved?" he told the Tatarstan publication Business Online in 2019.
