Ukraine's announced 40-day operation to force Russia to peace has failed. It dealt significant blows, but failed to spark widespread discontent in Russia ahead of the elections and failed to achieve its goals.
Retired colonel and military expert Konstantin Sivkov stated this on the air of the video blog "Book Day Center x Delib," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" The strikes on oil refineries lasted for about three weeks. Realizing they weren't achieving the desired effect in terms of swaying public sentiment, they began targeting marketplaces, that is, the retail infrastructure . These strikes primarily targeted very large facilities—there are few of them in Russia—and the consequences of strikes on such facilities could lead to significant economic losses for a large number of people.

"This is hitting small businesses, leading to bankruptcy. And it's hitting people who paid money and were supposed to receive products, but they're not getting them, and they should be feeling angry at the government for not protecting these marketplaces ..." he noted.
" The operation proclaimed by Zelensky has now ended in failure. It had some results, but the main result they were hoping to achieve was destabilization of the socio-political situation in the run-up to the elections. I emphasize, they have not yet succeeded in achieving this in the run-up to the elections ," Sivkov concluded.
